Hello Folks,

I have been looking at one of these import Tig welders. https://www.ahpwelds.com/product/ahp-alphatig-201xd

The reviews all seem good.

Why do I want one? I would like to learn to Tig weld.

Would like to weld aluminum. This won't be used every day.

I have watched the local sales, the buy/sell FB groups and talked to the local welding suppliers. There seems to be no used ones on the market.
Plus, I don't want to spend Red and Blue price.

In the shop now.

Miller 212
O/A set
Cobra/Detroit DHC2000 torch

So please share your thoughts & opinions.

Thanks
Capt. Chrysler

If they’re anything like the Alphatig 200 you won’t be disappointed. They are a great little welder for not a lotta cash and have a good following on here. I’ve had mine since 2015 and I can’t say anything negative about it.

Same here, bought a AlphaTig 200 a couple of years ago and it works well for both aluminum and steel. If you're looking for a weekend project machine I don't think you'll find a better deal unless you luck out at an auction or estate sale.

I had my doubts about buying one but went ahead. Had it for quite awhile and have welded alot with it. No regrets.

Using a 200x for two years now and very happy with it.

Could someone summarize the differences between the 200 and 201?

I've had the AlphaTig 200x for 3 years now and still going strong. I've TIG and stick welded plenty of steel, TIG'd aluminum, and TIG brazed with silicon bronze and aluminum bronze. Looking to get a dual flowmeter soon and start TIG welding some stainless.

Is there anyone still on this board or thread thingy? If so, hi. I just took delivery of a 201XD. Great price direct from AHP, quick delivery, top on-line ratings so I'm sure it will be a great machine. I purchased a generator ahead of selecting the AHP. The generator has 110 and 220V output, which I thought would work with whatever welder I selected. But, obviously, I didn't account for the different "flavors" of 220. The welder, as you know, has the flat blade two wire with the chassis ground and the generator has a 4 wire twistlock. Any chance of making the two work together and how can you determine if the output is clean (110 or 220). Thanks.

Welders and generators don’t usually play well together. If you need to do remote welding I suggest you get a welder/generator package.

All you need is a adapter, I suggest Ebay for either a premade unit, or buying raw materials (some heavy gauge cord, female and male plugs).

We use a gene (110/220v) with our convertible Miller welders, no real issues.
