Okay guys... not sure where to post this. Given the limited amount of floor space I have, I am thinking about a barrel stove for the garage/shop. But, was thinking of doing a vertical one. Does anyone have experience with this?

I have no experience with a barrel stove, but if you are tight for space then is a stove the best option? By the time you account for clearances around it, it will eat up a lot of space.

After two really bad winter storms affected us, I'm trying to figure out some kind of option. Something that doesn't eat up a bunch of floor space, something that will heat that area- our normal winters we don't see a lot of freezes, but cold and damp- 40s-50s with 100 % humidity; so...

Happily reporting we got rain yesterday! Since Tropical Storm Harold we've seen about six inches- almost catching us up on the year.
Speaking of, and since I don't post a lot about it, we can talk about the farm.
Yields this year, thanks to a drought, were off quite a bit. We harvested around 500 pounds to the acre in cotton. That's way off our normal mark. I know we've all seen inflation, but get ready for some bad news- cotton harvest being off, that means price is going up, which means goods will be going up as well. Sad times.

@FarmerWill How has it been going, long time since I’ve seen your thread. Glad your wife is doing well.
You have been pretty busy with the projects I see. Too bad about the cotton yields hopefully next year will be better. I understand the reuse of wood with a previous life. I just tore down an old pallet myself. I have a bunch of old barn board, actually came from our boathouse that was falling down. I’ve recycled it so far into bed headboards and back plates for coat hooks, display items, picture frames etc.
So you be that guy and keep busy. TTYL
