Just had a NorthStar 47500 compressor delivered.. Was planning to install this Derale 15300 transmission cooler as an aftercooler. The discharge tube on the compressor now is 1/2" copper pipe with 3/8" NPT compression fittings. I picked that transmission cooler because the -8AN fittings are designed for 1/2" OD tube, there is a version for about $10 less with -6AN fittings though.
So my question is: what is the best way to plumb this thing in? I have found that to connect rigid tube to AN fittings is with a 37 degree flare. Then what else do I use? I found these AN tube nuts - do I just put them on the tube before flaring and screw it on, or is there some other sleeve piece that I need? There will be ~140psi so I'm not sure if these will handle that. I also found this -8AN to 1/2" NPT adapter that I think would work, but again no PSI rating.
Also, I already contacted Derale, they won't sell me a piece with NPT fittings or no fittings at all..
Edit: the copper discharge tube is 1/2" OD so I guess that makes it 3/8" pipe actually.
