I found an old fire extinghuisher that was no longer needed, and I converted it to a portable air tank. Actualy it took very little work, and it certailny added versatility and extra tank capacity to a small air compressor I already had. For the most part it took some cutting and rewelding the handle in a new position, and fabricating some brackets. I dont have any pictures of the actual build, but you will be able to figure out what I did, from the before and after pictures below. The beauty of this thing is besides the fact that it cost me almost nothing, is that it can be used either as an air tank, or in tandem with the compressor. The compressor attaches with wing nuts, and quick connect coupling, in seconds. What do you guys think? And to prevent any misconseptions, I did make sure that the tank was hydrotested in 2012 (it had a date stamp below the valve).

And let the posts about welding on an air-tank begin:

:p Seriously though, seems like a neat idea other than being a lot of strain on that little motor and compressor, but please go get your aux. tank pressure tested before you start using it.
