Fabbed up a belt guard for my compressor today. Now all I have to do is some mounting brackets.

I still in the process of building the compressor. 5hp 15cfm Emglo that I am mounting on a new tank. its going from an 8 gal constant run to a 30 gal start/stop or constant. One cool thing was, I emailed Jenny who now makes this Emglo compressor asking for stickers. They sent me the full set of stickers they now put on this unit:rocker:. FOR FREE:rocker:. Thats customer service.

Nine4GMC, not really any more pics. I get on a roll and don't even think of taking pics. I just laid out two circles the correct distance apart and put a smaller circle inside of the two. Three 3" wide bands for the sides. I bent one around a propane tank for the big side and around a roll of roofing felt for the other. I just tacked my way around the edge and then skip welded the tacks together. I only blasted a couple holes through the sides too. A couple of pieces of expanded metal for grills. I bumped out the little one because the shaft for the motor sticks out a little. To finish it off a couple of angle iron brackets.

Very nicely done! Great fabrication. Great use of what's available around the garage for making the bends. Looks great...and a fresh coat of paint makes it even better.

It turned out real nice. The stickers Jenny gave me brought it over the top. They have top notch customer service. They helped me with wiring questions thru e-mail almost immediately which was a great help. You can see why I mounted it on such a small tank. Not much room left in my "workshop".

Looks great, I didn't realize how large that belt guard was until I saw it on the compressor!

I sent Jenny a quick e-mail with a couple pics saying thanks for the help getting it going. Here is the reply.

After looking at the pictures you sent this isn't our tank and belt guard. The belt guard is too large of screen wouldn't pass UL testing. This shouldn't have our Decals on it.

Maybe I'll take off the decals. LOL

Lol I see where he is coming from tho. Although if someone got injured and tried to sue Jenny, they could prove it never was a documented design.

Yeah I know. I just thought it was funny. Its ten times safer than it was with no guard.

That is funny, I can see where he is coming from though. Say you were to sell it by some chance and someone got hurt, they may try to sue and cause the company headache. Pretty funny though

I wouldn't have a guard on this if the belt was on the other side of the compressor. The way it is now I can see it eating extension cords or anything that drops off the work bench.

I run all mine without guards. Screw it.

Yes, me too, until my son was leaning on the big flywheel when the power was on. It could have started at any time. But it didn't. I built it that same day.

I knew better to lean on it, and no one is usually up on the second floor.

Yea funny how time changes you. I posted that when my son was 1. Now hes 5 and a half. With a 3 and 5 year old always hanging in the garage with me, I make sure every piece of energized equipment has guards and covers on it, like my Quincys. I disagree with myself about belt guards lol.
