My dad called me earlier and said his air compressor blew the sight glass out and started making a noise like a belt squealing. what could cause it to build build up pressure in the case like that? im guessing the squealing was from the lack of oil, the compressor is a husky pro 80gal two stage, not sure on the hp. i know the compression engine is a ch. any help would be appreciated

Bad pressure switch that wouldn't cut off?? However the safety should have opened.

Be careful and pinpoint root cause of the problem!!

These things can explode and kill in a bad over pressure situation and the blown out sight glass is very troubling.

"...what could cause it to build build up pressure in the case like that?…"

Compressed air bypassing the piston (cracked piston, leaking rings, etc.) and pressurizing the crankcase faster than the crankcase vent can relieve the pressure.
