air compressor flex hose

I'm just getting around to set'n up my compressor and running my lines and drops,I've done alot of searchs on this and have got alot of info here,I think I have it figured out as to my layout,but I'm just wondering on the flex hose from the tank,why do you run it up to the "T"? wouldn't it make sense to run it down to the "T" and then any water would run down to your drip leg instead of back to the tank.I have a 60 gal.tank and have a ball valve that comes out the top of the tank.I will be using this for air tools and a blast cabinet.About a 100-150' of line,4-5 drops,2 reels.Maybe I'm overthink'n this.......thanks for any info or idea's.

T should go on it's side, input should go into the side, bottom of the t is the drain, top is the outlet. Hope that helps...here's a pic of mine.

That T is too close to the compressor. It takes several feet of line for the air to cool, and the moisture to condense. On truck air dryers, they recommend at least 8'. That being said, metal lines conduct heat much better than hoses, the hoses will insulate it. Run a short piece of hose(for vibration isolation) to a metal pipe, go several feet(8 or more), and then install your drain.

The pic above is really good. Simple and got the elements in it. Drops are ok but like a fixed whip and don't like to move a hose from hydrant to hydrant. I don't use connectors there but screw it all and the only connector is at the tool end, with 2 reels maybe as few as 2 or 3 in whole system. Saves a lot of leaking agrivation and you never need to disconnect sections of hot hose.

I'm curious as to whether many of you have used the RapidAir air line system for the garage. I've heard plastic PVC and ABS are dangerous to use, sometimes failing catastrophically. Cast-iron pipe, black iron pipe, and copper tubing are pretty expensive. So, I'm curious what people are using for air distribution systems. Any ideas would be appreciated.

My thinking is that if it takes 8'-10' to cool,the first 4-6' will have the most water.In mine,I have it like the picture,into tee with drain on bottom,6' vertical pipe to a tee,then a run left and right with runs 10-12' to drains and then service ports.On my blast cabinet line,l'll have 10' to a drain and 1 sevice,then another run of 10' to a drain,then to a dryer on the cabinet.Does that sound OK? I'm open to any and all ideas,

What that pic doesn't show is the 6' up the main pipe goes, all water will drip down the pipe and into the drain. I don't have ANY water in the rest of the system, but still used the same style setup for each location. Suppose it could be different in a more humid climate though like the southeast.

What's wrong with sloping everything up from the compressor and using the tank drain instead of the pictured low tee right next to the tank? My plan was tank, flex whip sloped up to a vertical metal riser pipe. All would drain back to the tank. You've got to drain the tank anyways so....

Streetbu pic is good. You want all the lines to slope up from the T that goes out horizontally sort of like your waste pipes. If you change out the drip leg from iron to clear flex, it will show you how much moisture you have in there. Heat sinks on the vertical pipe will increase its effectiveness.
You should not use your tank as the drain for the system. Rust will grow faster that way and shorten the tanks life.

got a little done yesterday,but won't get back to it till next week.....and I know thats a big blast cabinet for that compressor,but I got a deal on both,I won't be using it for big parts for now and when I find a bigger two stage,I'll upgrade....
