Air compressor flex line

I'm trying to figure out what to use for a flex line to go from my Quincy compressor to my piping run mounted on the wall. The compressor has a 1/2" npt outlet on a 1/4 turn valve. My piping run is 3/4" copper pipe. What kind of fitting should I sweat onto my 3/4" copper?

I would sweat a 3/4 NPT male or female thread adapter (I personally would go female) which allows you to plump almost anything into your system for fittings/adapters. From the NPT fitting you can install a JIC or SAE male into the pipe and get a swivel hydraulic hose. You could also go with a swivel end Whip Hose (TP Tools sells them).

I have a very big SS braided hose that swivel on one end, and NPT both ends, got it ordered from Mcmaster carr. Then you just sweat a 3/4 NPT female etc on the copper.

IMO no need to add JIC etc, it's not a requirement to have swivel joint.

If you can make the compressor use a larger outlet it would be better. Mine is 1” npt to 3/4” npt. Just had a jumper hydraulic hose made was super cheap.

I am having a tough time trying to figure out what to run from compressor to cooler and back to compressor.

I sweated on a 3/4" male NPT adapter and connected the line to the air receiver tank using the hose below from Northern Tool - not sure if one is local to you. Kinda pricey, but it was convenient and the size (3/4") was plenty big.

3/4 NPT is plenty big.. the I.D. is already bigger than the 3/4 copper you are going to use.

if your compressor outlet can be redone in 3/4 NPT I would do that. Sometimes they put a reducer on there so they can put a 1/2" valve.

One thing to not do is have the connector hose sag, or make a U shape, in the middle in a way that condensate can collect in a low spot. Have the hose so that any fluid in it can run our one end or the other.

Possibility - 3/4 Hydraulic hose from like TSC or similar "Farm" tractor generic oriented store...various lengths, like maybe 1-3 ft., around $12 - $18.

Male NPT ends.

Go to a store that makes hydraulic hoses, such as Napa. Any length and diameter with any end that you want!

The NAPA custom made idea is great.... but still more than twice the $ of on the shelf at TSC or similar store.l

Another vote for hydraulic hose. Very cheap and you can get it cut to whatever length you want. This is what mine looks like.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess I didn't realize you could get a swivel fitting with an NPT thread. Not sure I understand how that seals up, but hey, it obviously works!

Sorry as usual,I'm a little late to the party. Here's mine done with hose barb x NPT swivel fittings and punch lock clamps.

What I did on Mine

Called around to get a custom lead in hose, min 150PSI pressure rating, 36" long, 1/2"MNPT on one end, 3/8" MNPT on the other end to go from ball valve on tank to the regulator. then a 12" 3/8" hose to go from regulator to manifold block. The manifold I oreder from Grainger, just a simple 3/8" inlet with 1/4" outlets. wanted to put on 2 female couplers just in case i need a second air line. very nice quality.

one place quoted me $45 for the lines. second place i called said $10 for hte 36" and then $5 for the 12" so they got the job. very nice hoses, all parker fitting and hose.
