Air Compressor help

Looking for info on this old compressor I was given (DeVilbiss Charge Air Pro, 5HP, 60 gallon, 1993 model). After I first plugged it in it ran for maybe half an hour before I heard a loud bang and the pump got really noisy. I continues to run if I turn it on, but will not exceed around 80psi. Thinking I may need to rebuild the pump, but don't even know where to start looking for a rebuild kit, or even if one is available.

I would start by finding the leak that developed as part of the big bang event. If the pressure switch broke, there's no point in taking the pump apart.

When you say noise, what kind of noise? Cleaning? Loud exhaust noise?

If it is mechanical, I would take it apart before ordering any parts. It would **** too spend $200 on parts just to find that a reed valve broke and found it's way into the cylinder and scratched up the bore.

I would start by taking the head(s) off. Usually, it's pretty easy and you'll know right away what went BANG.

Then you can decide if it's worth fixing or even can be fixed.

Inspect the tank and make sure you didn't have the tank fail.

diagnose your problem before you start buying parts for it.
a loud bang and a now noisy compressor could indicate a thrown rod... or something else.
take off the belt , spin the compressor by hand & what's it sound/feel like ?

Change your run capacitor, mine was horribly noisy, running hot,I replaced both capacitors while I was at it.
