Air Compressor Help

i have this old compressor sitting around that i know works and has for a while besides its looks its in good condition.. i have a 5 gallon tank that i picked up off the side of the street.. now is there anyway that i can put the compressor i have on top of the tank and have it work?

If the tank is in really good shape it shouldn't be a problem. This link might help some...

Hi Zsklawn,

You can certainly hook it up, but a 5 gallon tank is not going to hold much air or do much good if you are using any kind of high consumption tool (DA sanders, HVLP gun, etc.), though it might be ok for a nailer or impact wrench. I have seen 30-80 gallon tanks on Craigslist for not much $$.

Also, a tank found on the street might be there for a reason.

i just need it for the small stuff.. il go down and look for some of those parts at the store..

The tank had a motor on it.. i know the lady who had it.. the motor was shot.

Grainger has check valves and an unloader valve, if needed. Last time I bought one, they had a check valve/unloader all in one. Did the pump that you want to use originally come on a tank?

Well, you will need a check valve and unloader, and some copper tubing to plumb the air into the tank. You will have to figure out how you are going to mount the motor/pump assembly to the tank.

Pressure switch
Regulator

theres a bracket on top of the tank ill use

How does the compressor run now, does it just run constantly and bleed off the excess? Do you have any PICTURES?

Ya runs aand willl shoot some air out once it fills the hose.. i will get pics either tonight or tomorrow morning. i will also get a picture of tank .. can i use the hose thats on there now to run to the tank? or do i have to go with the copper tubing?

I predict a voluminous cloud of smoke if you ever actually get that little chuffer plumbed up on that tank.

If I were you I'd look around on Craigslist and find a deal on a real compressor.

so i dont think this is gunna work i cant find the right connection from the tank to the compressor. so i guess i have to just go with one off craigslist
