What size hose are all you guys usin on your compressors? I recently picked up a 33 gallon craftsman compressor and the manual says to use 1/2" hose for anything over 8ft. I noticed most places only sell 3/8". I do plan on using a paint gun for a couple of projects. What do you guys think? Go with the 1/2" or 3/8"?

If it recommends 1/2", I'd try to use it. I'm using 3/8" and there is some pressure drop.

Unless you're using a jackhammer, sandblaster, or blowing out a large sprinkler system, 3/8" hose is more than adequate for your use. It will delivery plenty of volume with minimal pressure drop in a shop length (25-35') hose.

I suspect the outlet from your compressor is only 1/4" or 3/8" and the inlet for most air tools is 1/4".

Hardpipe plumbing on the other hand should be done in 1/2" or larger sizes. SD
