Air Compressor Install

I have a couple questions on a garage air install. I got a Zilla reel last week and plan on installing it in the center of my 22x22 garage. Can I use regular air hose to run up my wall and across my ceiling from my compressor? My garage is in finished and will 6-10 months before I finish it so it will be somewhat of a temporary install. What is a decent filter/regulator setup? I don't use my compressor much and it's usually with an impact or die grinder so I don't need anything too fancy.

Also, my compressor is a Rolair 5715k17. I am thinking about getting rid of it and getting an upright to save space. Any idea how much a used one of these would be worth. I got a hell of a deal on it a few months ago.

For a temporary install thats fine. Just make sure the hose you run from the comp to the hose reel has an ID equal to or larger than the ID of the hose on the reel.

Those Rolairs are worth nothing, so just ship it to me and I'll take care of it for you.

Yes...until I get permanent air lines in my garage, I am currently using a regular air hose to run from the air compressor (on one side of the garage), across the ceiling with bicycle hooks, and back down to my work area (on the other side of the two-car garage). Works just fine.

All I installed on my air compressor is the filter thingy which uses the sintered metal filter.

I don't have another filter/regulator on the end of the hose going to my work area. I just use the system pressure regulator to set the pressure. I use an inline pressure regulator and dial on my riveting hammer, so I can check the pressure at the end of the hose.

Try to keep your air hoses as short as possible...the flexible air hoses definitely decrease the ooomph of the system...I've had about 125 foot of hose on my compressor and it wouldn't put out nearly as much power as with the 50 foot hose. (3/8" hose with 1/4" connectors).

I have an elbow and a short piece of black iron from the tank to a ball valve, after that its regular hose to my hose real. The ball valve is key unless you want to wait for the tank to charge up before every use, especially small ones.

Be careful of placing the hose reel in the center of a bay of a garage/workshop. If a vehicle is in there it makes it more difficult to pull out the hose, and if you lose grip on it, it will zip right across the paint job. Here is how I have my cord and hose reels laid out. I recently added another hose reel at the upper left inside the door opening.

1) I have a 15' run of Goodyear black hose in the attic that connects from the compressor network to a drop in the work room. 8 years, no issue.

2) Do not put the reel in the middle. Put it on the wall near the door - then it can go in both directions as needed.

I was looking for the regulator pipe size (3/8) ? coming right off the tank to my 50' goodyear hose no filters or anything else and input on that setup.
