Ok, so I’ve got a 80Gal, 5HP Jenny air compressor I bought new this spring for my small auto repair biz.
Love it, but it’s loud. The air filters are screwed into the heads with 3/4 NPT *******.

So.... can I have some good 3/4 hoses made and route the intake wherever I want, and into a muffler box? Or does the extra length cause the heads to create more heat from pulling the air further? Is there anything I need to know about this?

Thanks

How about a simple, pre-made solution? Lookup Solberg

Ya I’m aware of what Solberg has to offer. I’m not looking for an in line scilencer, I’m looking to route the intake out of the building, and into a box where there is an air filter.

I have a 120V belt drive compressor. It's filter setup is similar, if smaller than, what the OP had. I found this setup to be very effective.
1. "Automotive style" filter housing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076BT9RXC/?tag=atomicindus08-20
I used a Campbell Hausfeld OEM part. I'm including that link for illustration.
2. Add perhaps 3' of rubber hose to the inlet.

Net result is very cheap and quite effective. With my phone based db meter I dropped about 8 db vs just a basic filter with an open housing.

Look at these two videos for an idea
--I would try this with just the hoses before adding the automotive muffler.
