This is stumping me, I cant figure it out.

So my sears 33 gal 120v compressor has a rating of 8.6cfm @40psi and 6cfm @90psi. The issue is I dont seem to be getting the same oomph it used to have. All I changed was the quick connect on the compressor side. Thought it was the fitting so I swapped it again no change. Tried different hoses, different air tools, same result.

Whats happening is the air seems to have that nice initial kick and then falls on its face with little air volume coming out. Doesnt matter how much psi is in the tank or what I have the regulator set to. Either you stop and let it catch up or you get less performance. Doesnt matter if its running or not.

I can physically hear some sorta noise like the tanks catching up on if I let go of whatever device Im using and then hit it again.

I dont get it..bad fitting on the tank end? If I open the ball valve on the bottom it comes FLYING out with force. Maybe theres a blockage?

Perhaps the regulator has failed and is restricting flow. Something is restricting flow.
Yep. I changed the fitting, I removed the ball valve I had on there, messed with it a bit more.

I figured it out. The piece of 1/4 gas pipe Im using to go out from the regulator on the tank (so the fitting sticks out further) was too tight and restricting flow at the regulator. lol...

Oh well, least I figured it out.

good news!

now after getting it all back together the regulator knob is leaking. Sears doesnt sell it anymore, like any of the parts for this thing either. Course ebay has a 4 port regulator just like it for sale that says it fits

While we are at it, Im sick of using teflon tape. Is there a dry thread sealant like comes on some air fittings I could use?

Loctite, makes a Teflon paste for pipe fittings,it might be pricey, but it will last for years in the squeeze tube.
