Air Compressor Leak

My dad has owned this craftsman compressor for probably 30 years...no real issues. Lately I've heard a small leak near the regulator. I was wondering if this was an optimal setup as I noticed it has two quick disconnects on either side of the regulator. I know absolutely nothing about air fittings and such. I am guessing you have the tank, then an valve(with a guage on it) then quick disconnect to the filter regulator..then another quick disconnect on the output for the hose.

Would it be best to get a new regulator?

It really depends on what sort of use you have for the air compressor and whether the qd fittings are impeding your flow enough to be a problem. (For instance to feed my sandblast cabinet I want every ounce if the 15.4 cfm I can get. :) ). My experience with even the best quality qd's is that over time there is wear on both the qd coupling and the male insert. If it was me I'd try to isolate the leak with soapy water and just replace what's leaking if your happy with the regulator.

Just my .02 and probably not worth that

We only use it for filling stuff with air. Very simple. From my hand..i know the QD on the left of the regulator is leaking, and it seems the regulator is leaking around the plastic. Almost looks like the bottom screws in?

What he said! The filter (2nd one) isn't even really working since you need more distance between the tank and that filter for the moisture to condense and fall out of the air. Just remove it and be done with it if that was the source of the leak.

Cool beans! Thanks guys, I told my dad about it and he couldn't even remember if he had put them on there, that's how old it is. Took off the second regulator. Lol :lol_hitti
