Air compressor lines and filtration

I'm buying my first large air compressor for my one car garage and I have a few questions about air line connection and filtration. I'm buying a campbell hausfeld 60 gallon and I like some help with running the airline and filtration. Can I run the tank>ball valve>regulator>separator> to quick disconnect for my airline? I've heard that I may need to run 25 feet or black pipe or air hose before my regulator and separator. Is this true? If so can I run regular air hose or do I have to use black pipe? Am I forgetting anything?

You need to cool the air before you filter it out. Otherwise the filter won't trap the moisture. The quickest and easiest way to cool air if pressurized is to depressurize it. Jet engines take compressed air heated to several hundred degrees and cool it to below zero in several feet.

Can I hook up a 25 foot air hose to before the filter? Or will I have to use the black pipe?

Ideally, you should use metal. The hose will not dissipate heat as well as metal will, the moisture in the air will not condense. Unless you are running a drier or a desiccant filter, the filter/water separator will not work very well for you

I dunno I'm not an expert, but that is exactly what I plan on doing only because I have no intention of plumbing my garage.

Use black pipe or copper. It is not hard to do and doesn't have to be elaborate unless you want it to be. You could run 25' of copper line for probably $50 or less. I have used air compressors with just a hose and under heavy use they spray water out. My setup now with copper line I get none.
