I finally bought a decent air compressor (60 gallon from Lowe's) and need to run 3 main lines from it to different points in my garage. I was going to run black iron pipe but started pricing it out and realized it might be over budget. What are your thoughts on just running regular rubber air line? If I do that then what items like filters, oilers, and etc. should I include inbetween the compressor and the 3 seperate lines I will be running to different locations?

Any other suggestions you have, please let me know.

Below is a link to a recommended piping diagram. You don't have to set it up exactly, but if you get the main points you can have a good working setup. Running rubber directly off the compressor for your runs is going to create lots of moisture in your lines. If you look at the diagram, it's set up to keep water from getting to the rubber hose with the ball valves at the bottom of each drop and the "T's" going up and over at each drop. You would probably be much better off setting up fewer drops to start off and running longer lengths of hose from there. Good Luck!

If you haven't already considered it, you may wish to take a look at the RAPIDAIR solution.

What is the general consensus on this system? I saw it in JC Whitney and it looked like a good alternative for a small garage system. It is in my plans to have an air connection at my workbench, which of course is on the opposite side of the garage from the compressor.

i've run hoses for temporary installs, if it's your garage, and dont plan on moving in the next 6 months, then run the black pipe.
even if you can afford to run just one line/drop at a time, you'll be happier in the long run

just my $0.02
