Last year I found this DeVilbiss in a warehouse before it was demoed. It was used to keep the dry sprinkler system up to pressure. It was located above the mechanical room, in the trusses. At some point there were offices built around that side of the building. I'm sure the maintenance then became a pain in the rear to be able to service this monster. They eventually installed a smaller compressor in the mech room and this beauty was all but forgotten, until I feasted my eyes upon it. It was love at first sight.
I won't go into how I got it down and it wasn't with a lift. It had a three phase motor
so I had to shop around for a single phase. Now that I have the correct motor, I see there is another piece of the puzzle missing. The compressor has a pressure switch but there are only two wires. All the compressors I've had were equipped with pressure switches where the power comes in and then continues to the motor. Do I need to purchase a magnetic start housed in a separate box? One other note, my new motor has a reset button on the side of the box, so I would imagine the switch doesn't need to be the more expensive one with the reset. Can I replace the original switch currently on the compressor tank with a more modern pressure switch found on most compressors? If so, will I still need the separate magnetic start? Sorry if there are errors in my spelling as I am writing what looks to be a book on my wife's I- pad.
