Hello, I have an old Sears air compressor (919.176311) it's a 1 hp. 12 gallon tank. It needs a new pump and I was going to get one from Harbor Freight the 3 hp one that says it has a working rpm of 1050. Is there anyway that the motor I have work? It's I believe 1hp 3450rpm.

Pump RPM is determined by the motor RPM and the pulley configuration.
You can play with it here

Don't think your 1HP motor will have enough oomph to run the 3HP 145psi pump.
The motor/pump combo on that model pulls 15.5A at 100psi.

My garage compressor is the same or a similar model. Its around 40 years old and still works. If mine fails, I'd get a new one.

Thanks, I figured it wouldn't either. I really like the compressor, I figure the $ I spend on replacing the pump and a motor that would work well with it is still cheaper then what a new one would cost.
