I have an ingersoll rand SS3R2 24 gallon upright air compressor with very low hours. Was bought after being used for a few months by a store to blow up party balloons. I changed the oil and it seems to run well but have noticed seeping from the area around the shaft. Oil fill is in the middle of the sight glass. From searching, this does not seem to be a common problem. The oil level is way below this seal so I expect it is mostly from vapor/splash being churned up by the crank. Anyone have any thoughts? Is this more likely from excessive pressure in the crankcase or is it just a defective seal? Doesn't seem to suffer from excessively oily compressed air and the oil level is not going down.
