i have a honda powered jenny air compressor with a ku pump. it still has the factory fill of jenny ultimate blue oil in the pump. And for what ever crazy reason i want to use that oil when i change it. but it is proving to be really expensive and scarce to order offline, and nowhere local to get it? I have started using the royal purple synfilm recip 100 and really like it. it is also expensive, but can buy it local and seems like it is a really high quality oil. so what i was wondering was, is the royal purple a good oil? And is it close enough in specs to use to replace the jenny oil? compatible and all that? don't want to mix them and find out i should not have. here is the jenny blue oil:http://www.jennyproductsinc.com/manuals/UBCPOSpec.pdf
and the royal purple oil:http://www.royalpurpleconsumer.com/wp-content/uploads/PS_Synfilm_Recip.pdf

The Royal comp oil is good. The secret to keeing the expense down is changing it once or so and run it. Comp oil is good for 1000's of hours.
How much have you ran it on the factory? What work are you doing with it? I have an engine drive that i still have the oil I put in it on install, 15 years.

not sure the hours, bought it slightly used and guessing not many hours. it still has the factory fill, and i figure it should be changed out, then will be good for many years till i change it again. shouldn't the original oil be changed out? i think it is 2-3 years old.

I believe RP recommends for the 1st change to their oil to: change the oil, run the compressor for an hour, then change the oil again. After that it would be just a single oil change.

Yes the RP will work fine...

- Any compressor you really should use a non-detergent oil.
- Most (including yours) want ISO-100 / 30W oil.
- Synthetic is always recommended, especially in extreme temps (both cold & hot) and extended service intervals...
