Found this grub covered little gem at an estate auction, that's perfect one for the basement, since it runs pretty quiet. the little Montgomery Ward Lost its place, so it is going to go up for sale.

I'd like to drain and change the oil on the compressor.

2Z498 is the compressor model number.

Thanks

Nice little compressor. I would go with whatever compressor oil that is available locally. I wouldn't use 30wt motor oil, but rather 30wt compressor oil which has the compressor additive package blended in. I would also look at the pour point of whatever oil you buy to make sure it is good for the usage location. If need be, drop to 20wt or look at synthetics.

Some brands to look at would be: Mobil, Schaefer, LE, IR, Campbell Hausfeld, Napa brand (I believe it is Valvoline oil), Phillips 66, etc....

I used to use RP, but found that it wasn't fond of cold temps. I no longer use RP and don't recommend their compressor oil (never used any of their other products).

A synthetic type of oil will solve the low-temperature starting issues that are normally experienced with non-synthetic 30W compressor oil.

I don't know what a compressor oil typically is as far composition and how it differs from engine oil, but all I use is engine oil. Whatever I have leftover from oil changes.

I like the Amsoil brand ,synthetic compressor oil.It will stand the high heat, and take care of the low temperature start ups much better than any petroleum based oil.

I got some Ingersoll Rand oil (and filters) off of Amazon when I did mine. The original oil (OEM Ingersoll Rand) didn't look bad at all, but I did it for cheap insurance after a few years of home use. It was cheap enough that it didn't make me want to drive to the autoparts store to see if they even carried a compressor oil.

Hey Zendriver,

Just inheritied the same exact Speedaire you posted about. Just dumped the oil out of it. Doesn't seem like much. Filled up maybe 2 - 2.5" of a slim drinking water bottle. Do you know how much it takes and is the fill hole the bolt right on top of the drain bolt?

Thanks for any guidance....can't find manuals anywhere and called Grainger and they were no help.
