I have a Delta 80 Gallon 6.5 compressor rated to 175 psi.

This one here: http://www.allpartsinc.com/ProductD...2-1---Delta-Type-1-6.5HP-80G-VS-OL-2STG-240V-

The pressure switch part number is Z-D20596

Problem the compressor is having is the compressor will not shut off at 175 and will continue to pump which would be the pressure switch correct? I'm looking for an alternative to getting the one only offered online due to the fact I need this compressor tomorrow and hoping I can retreive one from grainger or parker or something of that nature. Problem is I can not dig one up for it or know of a solution that will work.

Help?????

Huge thanks in advance to anyone who throws in their .02 on this!

Thanks
shane

You can look at the contacts and see if they are pitted or burned and you can try filing them. (un plug first) There is a compressor place in Roseville? or Centerline, on Groesbeck or Gratiot, I think just north of 12 mile on the west side. Look on line, they can set you up with a pressure switch.

you might try performance tool in pontiac for one today, I think they are open sunday.

you will need your old one to match up.

1. UNPLUG YOUR COMPRESSOR
2. Take the cover off the pressure switch. Make sure something (or some little critter) didn't get stuck in there causing the contactor to stay closed.

If all looks okay in there and everything moves freely, then yeah either your pressure switch is bad, or if you pull it off you might have some crud that is covering the hole where the air pressure activates it.

You can get them from Grainger. They sell a couple models just match up the one for your HP/PSI. I *think* they are Square D brand. Which I don't think you have a "true" 6.5HP as its showing you only need a 30 amp circuit. I'm willing to bet it says something like "6 SPL" on the compressor (meaning it's more like a 3HP)...

Looks like a Porter Cable look alike. Anyhow, how far up does the compressor pump to before it stops? Does the tank safety blow at 200? If you want to have it stop dead on 175, you can adjust the switch by removing the cover and looking at the diagram. Usually the screw in the MIDDLE is for adjusting the cut in AND cut out pressure. Turn it counterclockwise 2 full turns. and try the compressor again.

IF the switch's contact are welded together, then it is pretty much dead. A replacement can be found at grainger or any compressor dealer. Do not use a well pump switch.

The stamped metal tag attached to the electric motor displays 6 1/2 hp. manuf date manufacturer then proceeded with UL info
