OK guys I am changing a 3 phase compressor motor to a single phase motor what do I need to do with the pressure control valve will the 3 phase one work with my new single phase motor.

My pressure switch had 3 terminals on the input side and 3 on the output side. If you have a similar setup then you can have 3 phase power. To go 2 240v single phase you connect the 2 hot legs on corresponding terminals on the in/out sides. Should be a wiring diagram hopefully to help you along.

What brand compressor, hp etc?

Yes it will work with the single phase motor. Just use one of the switch legs and break the black line in the cords path to the compressor if you are running 120. If 220 break both lines...

Maybe, it depends on the switch rating. Are you hooking the motor leads directly to the pressure switch or is the pressure switch controlling a motor controller? Going from 3 phase to single then the motor current is going to go up assuming the same HP. If the pressure switch will handle the increased power then your OK. If you have a motor controller in the system then your OK. However then you have to confirm that the motor controller will handle the single phase.

:eek:I do have a motor control singe phase that came with the new single phase motor rated at 5 to 7 hp same as the new 5 horse motor I will hook it up that way. Thanks for all the help guys.
