Oh hey, that looks a lot like it.
So the guy says he doesn't see any tags on the pump so how would I best find out what it is? He said it builds pressure fast still but its leaking oil.
Just wondering if the pump is worth fixing or am I just after the motor xD

Rolair pumps (made by Chinook) seem to have a good reputation. No Saylor-beall for sure but I've heard a ton of positive comments about them.

Rolair is just a brand name (Chinook also) they don't make any of the components. It looks like an old ABAC/American IMC pump to me - probably one that they no longer make. Check this site for IMC pumps and parts:

The cast-aluminum filled intercooler, aftercooler, and the ribbed crankcase all point strongly to it being an IMC pump, but I don't see any exact matches to it on that site. IMC also made pumps for a lot of compressor manufacturers that were brand-specific. My 1990 Ingersol Rand has one on it, and by the late 1990s you couldn't even get replacement parts for it.

I would say that your pump dates back to the 1980s from the looks of it.

As someone said, it looks like a K50 to me. These are decent pumps, worth fixing up if there isn't any major damage. Long hours of use can sometimes cause the hard metal reeds to wear gouges in the valve plates. Not sure how expensive these would be to replace, but a new set of reed themselves shouldn't be too much. Oil leaks are just a gasket or oil seal issue. I wouldn't worry too much. Chinook/Shamal was its own brand. The story of ABAC, Chinook, Fini seems to be somewhat convoluted.

Thanks so much for posting this! I knew that there was more to the Italian- made compressor story and this really fills in a lot of details. I suspect that engineers and pump designers moved around between those companies back in the day as well, as happens within any industry, which probably explains why these pumps from different companies look so similar. I owned a SnapOn BRA7180V a few years ago that had the Chinook K30 pump on it, and my 1990 Ingersol Rand appears to have the Shamal SB28 on it. My brother's compressor has an ABAC T39 on it.
