and post for XRogerX to help you identify the pump. He is the resident expert on old air compressors, and is quite good at IDing them. In the far right of the top menu is "modern view" if you don't like the old format. Only way to post pics is in the "galleries" on the LH side of the screen, there is a "help identify" photo gallery you can post to and then post the links in the "optional image URL" at the bottom of the screen where you type your message. You can also use a off site image host and link to the pics same way. Its kinda clunky but it all works well.

I just looked to see if I still had the pump that came off the Brunner tank I am using now, but I could not find it. Something about your pump seems familiar, but I could be wrong about where I recognise it from.

I have the same Saylor Beall compressor at home. With a 5 Hp motor, it will catch up when using my die grinder. It is one air pumping machine!!! They are very high quality with tapered roller bearings on the crank and I belive needle bearings in the rods. I bought mine was bought out of a scrap yard on a 30 gallon tank and a 12 Hp Kohler engine that ran for $100. I then sold the Kohler engine for $150, bought the electric 5 hp motor of Craigslist for $75 and I have one screaming compressor.

ya i got mine for $120 with a 60gal tank and a 3hp dayton motor but ime thinking about seling it and geting a 5hp

How can you tell the difference between a SB 705 pump and a 703 pump?

703 only has one intake valve on the low pressure cylinder and the 705 has two

Thanks Kams. I have 703/705 drawings from the SB web site but I never looked close enough to notice the difference in the heads. I have my favorite mix of ATF and brake fluid soaking the bolts to disassemble this beast. This pic shows 2 places for intake but it has a connnection from the low to high pressure cylinder so I still wonder if it is a 705 or some variation. It's about 40 years old.
