I'm talking to a guy about a compressor he bought in the 1980's. It has a large tank (probably 80 gallons) and two headed pump. He doesn't know the brand and there's no data plate on it. Baldor motor.

He said there's an upside down arrowhead stamped into the pump. With two "S" on either side of the arrowhead.

First person to ID it is a genius.

Could be a super rare Sullair recip.

But light blue was also Baur and Worthington depending on age and paint fading.

Now that I think about it, Sullair's green paint fades to light blue.

Kinda hard to track as blue is a popular color for many makers.
2 headed V pump or inline?
The arrow and SS could mean single stage!??!

If I saw the valves I could tell more.

He has no abilities to take a photo? Maybe a neighbor can help. Maybe this is a compressor hat was patched together from random pieces. You might want something solid before you go looking unless its around the corner.

It's been sitting outside so definitely faded.

He bought it new so it shouldn't be patched together. Asked for pictures, but he's elderly...

Forgot to mention that one "S" is backward. So I guess it's not WII germany. lol.

He said he has the pressure set to 100 psi for woodworking. Doesn't know the max pressure. At first he couldn't even remember if it has one cylinder or two. I think all he did for 30 years was turn this thing on and run it. It does have two cylinders. I'll have to ask if it's a V pump or inline. Will that definitely confirm single vs dual stage?
