Air Compressor Repair

Bought my wife a small AC from HF about 2 yrs ago for small stuff around the house. It's a Central Pneumatic 8 gal. 2 HP 125 PSI Oil Lube Air Compressor.
Been working great untill last weekend. It will not shut off and trips the pop-off. Dont know nothing about air compressors so i dont know where to start.

Can anyone guide me or is this a thing for the shop or a throw away thing.

Something is wrong with the pressure switch.

Sounds like pressure switch isn't tripping off when it should. Take the cover off and look at the switch. See if you can find a new one. I bought one for my bigger compressor from northern tools.

+1. Yep, pressure switch is stuck. It controls the compressor motor on/off. See if you can clean it up. May have to be replaced.

Look up "compressor pressure switch" on eBay. There are tons of them, cheap. Sort from least expensive to most and buy the cheapest one that looks like what you have and has the same max pressure.

not worth sanding the points. just replace the switch and be done with it.
