Air Compressor Replacement motor/pump question

I am assuming that this will be ok, but I have a craftsman air compressor, 20Gal horizontal tank, that the pump is bad on. I also have a compressor setup from a 20Gal Rand compressor that the tank went bad on. I would like to swap the main parts from the Rand to the Craftsman tank. The issue is, that the mounting holes are completely different. I don't have metal fabrication abilities currently, so i was wondering if I could fashion a spacer out of wood for the pump. I know I'd probably need to go 1"-2" thick so it would not crack with the vibrations, but is this a viable approach?

I don't see a problem, assuming the wood base is well supported by the original steel base, and is sized so that it fully supports the compressor base. I would probably use 3/4 plywood, maybe even two sandwiched together.

yeah, the plan was to have it supported on the original base. The craftsman compressor had a hanging tension mount for the motor, whereas the RAND had it mounted to the frame. The base on the rand pump is smaller, so ifI use the wood, I can get everything to fit.
