I have had this HF 8 gallon air compressor for about 6 years. It's item no. 40400. I was using it today to run a brad nailer while I was doing some wood working in the yard. I heard this loud pop. I thought maybe the air hose had split open. Nope, the regulator disintegrated!!!! Pics below of the debris. I dont' even know if I got all of the pieces picked up. The pot metal the regulator was made out of just split off where the knob is. So if you have one of these compressors, you might consider changing out the regulator...before it goes POP!

We've had regulators come apart here at work too, always the chintzy Napa replacements... point is, it's not just Harbor Freight **** that does it.

Yup, Chinese low buck part is a Chinese low buck part doesn't really matter whose box it comes out of.

Glad you were not injured. If you were adjusting it at the time it popped that could have really hurt.
