Air Compressor saved from the scrap man, Help me Identify

I really hate seeing useful things go to junk. This compressor was a backup unit for a local dry cleaners. It was running but they needed the space so I removed it from an overhead rack and paid zero. It had a 7.5HP 3450RPM 3ph motor and an 80 gallon tank. As luck would have it I bought a 7.5HP single phase motor at an auction last year. The speed and shaft were a match and the pulley went right on.

I can't find anything about this model online and its possible that it was rebadged for ChargeAir. Anybody recognize this unit? It has 2 vertical cylinders that sit side by side and the spec tag is below.

Italian made aluminum pump. That I've seen, all of the aluminum pumps with the solid cast, down hanging intercooler on them are made in Italy.

It looks like an ABP-446.

It was used on IR and a number of other units.

It's garbage and I'd take it right back to the scrap heap. Mine has been nothing but trouble.

Most parts are unobtainium and the few parts that are avail are outrageously expensive like >$300 for a valve plate kit which you'll likely need since the valves on the ABP-446 were famous for self destructing.

I think you hit it Dave. I found the parts break down and its a match.This one was running pretty nicely so I'm going to keep it. If it breaks down I'll just find another pump and keep the tank/motor. It only cost me a few hours and some fuel so I'm happy.

The repair parts are insane. $400+ for a flywheel. $120 for a ring kit. I doubt anybody would bother going too deep into this unit.

Make sure you torque the head bolts. I believe the spec is 35 ft lbs. It's critical since they tend the come loose.
