Picked up this 15? Gallon Hills Brothers 2 HP air compressor this morning for $30. This thing is a tank for its size! The pump is huge for a portable compressor.

Anyone have experience with Hills Brothers compressors?

Also, how hard is it to rewire the motor to 115 volt; currently 220volt.

If you look at that motor plate you will see it pulls 27a on 115volts. Your not goingto run that on any existing circuit you have I'll bet. So seeing you have to probably have to pull a circuit just stay with 220v you'll probably save money in the long run using smaller wire. I would also suggest that you inspect the tag on the tank to make sure the working pressure is at 200psi or above.

The working pressure is 165.

So you have a pump head that would normally have a cut out at 175PSI on a tank not rated for it. I believe you have a system there made of parts from some different systems. Just be careful out there.

It is not Uncommon at all for a two stage pump especially an older one to be set to cut out at 150psi. Neither here nor there the important thing is that the pressure switch/pilot valve be adjusted appropriately and that the tank have a safety valve fitted that does not exceed the working pressure of the receiver.
