I bought my Quincy because of where it was made, and the quality. CFM was not an issue because of how much better the Quincy is over my 20 gal. Coleman. Was a non issue.

Power wasn't a concern either since I knew I had to wire the 240 for it.

I'd say power/price/quality ratio. The shop is yet to be built so I'll have to wire it for the compressor. That said I wasn't at all in a hurry and could wait until I found a professional quality italian made 5 hp 380v 3 phase, about 60 gallon tank, compressor from the late 70s in good order well within my budget, paid about 300$.

None of the above..................

Pressure and delivered CFMs.

Beyond that, available power (considering that you might have to run additional circuits to accommodate it, and quality vs cost.

Best quality compressor in the world won't do you any good if you don't have power to run it or won't deliver the required CFMs to do the job.

X2. You have to spec the air needs of the shop first. All the selections you have are secondary.

I studied reliabilty, rebuildability, cost, power requirements, and air delivered. Then I went to Lowes and bought what they had. I like to dream big but I only need a fairly light compressor. I may stick a Quincy decal over the Kobalt decal and dream.

Went with a Quincy, after much consideration and research. Have had a few other brands in the past, similar size and CFM, and it has beaten them down so far. I had the walls open when I picked it up, so running proper power and air lines throughout the shop was relatively easy. Wanted to have plenty of air to do just about anything, and never have to buy another compressor again.

my answer would be "all of the above" plus "size". I buy my compressors based on size and performance. I need a certain level of air output from my compressors to do my job.

I bought one with a tank, so cfm only applies to filling the tank and cycle times.

Breaker box is in my garage, and I was putting in new lines anyway, so I could go either 110 or 220. I picked 110 as its cheaper and no issue if I roll it over to a neighbors house etc.

Cost major factor, but viewed from a total cost of going to air tools and benefits of using them.

Space just as important as cost, garage is packed with stuff, so vertical only practical option. I would have seriously considered something even smaller that fit on a shelf, if it had reasonable quality/performance.

No concern regarding replacement parts, if the compressor fails, anything that hooks up to replace it is fine with me, no need to be original.

Duty cycle and CFM is my main thing. I am looking at the Eaton models, but may need a custom one built due to space limitations. It needs to be horizontal in the 30 gal range. I also may just buy a new 3 cly pump from them and a new motor baldor motor somewhere and rebuild my current one as well since the tank is good.....
