I'm looking at the Ingersol Rand SS5L5 and the Belaire 216v

Im a recreational car restorer (one car every year) and the biggest need I have is sandblasting and HLVP painting, along with air tools.

Which would you recommend? Thanks

Thank-you for the correction.

I am not right very often, but am actually going thru the same debate on compressor choices. Hard to convince myself that twice the cost of a HF chinese made compressor is a good idea. I have researched Eaton, Quincy, IR,,,,, I think my sweet spot is 15 cfm,,,, 1390 RPM on the low end Quincy,, cant find the db rating. I know the Eaton is SLOW,, so I assume pretty quiet. I would imagine the IR is comparable, as long as you go with the right model... Choices, choices, choices,,,,

dbA would be around 80 according to them do real world would likely test out at 90+ which in my opinion is very loud without hearing protection.

yea the IR is a single stage and the Belaire is a 2 stage but they both have comparable CFM, which is what is throwing me off.

Before you buy an Ingersoll, look at the country of origin on the pump and motor. I had their SS3 Tractor Supply model a couple of years ago (my other compressor died on a Saturday and I needed a new one right then) and it was a total POS that was made in India. In a year and a half it went through two motors and a pump plus a pressure switch. I now run a 10HP Quincy as my main compressor and have a 10HP Champion as a backup. If you want a cheap compressor, go to Lowes/Home Despots/Harbor Freight. If you want a good one get a Quincy, Champion, or other real brand.

Lower IR models are not worth buying from what I remember.

I think Quincy WR250F is best bet.
