I'm in the market for a new air compressor.

I previously had a porter cable 17 gallon vertical oil less.

It was ok but the thing was so darn loud and the fitting on the top where the pump filled the tank often had leaks due to the compressor vibration, etc.

So, I sold it.

Now I would like to find a new one that is not vertical and is oiled and quite.

My minimum requirement is that it can support 65 lbs / 3.5CFM

I am not looking to break the bank but I want something decent. Does not have to be name brand but just quite and reliable.

Try to find a 25 gallon Craftsman Pro. Runs off 120 or 240. Puts out 5.8 CFM @ 90 psi. Pump will fill the tank to about 150 psi. Works well, belt driven and slow rpm (700 or so IIRC). Great unit, new is kinda expensive unless you can find it on a nice sale. I pad $400 or so 5 years ago, although I also got another $50 credit after the fact so $350. Expensive but the best 120v unit you will find IMO.
