Air compressor tank missing ASME tag?

Went and looked at what turned out to be a 30 gallon upright with a pump, but no motor...

Motor was on the ground disassembled and beat to hell... lol don't know why it looked that rough, just was. Whole thing spray painted silver metallic... *rolleyes*

Pump was a newer-ish, also spray painted same silver metallic...

Tank looked pretty new, great shape, original paint. Problem was, there was no data plate on it indicating its manufacturing date, pressure rating, or anything else like that... Looked over to see if maybe it got pried off but paint was smooth. Only had a couple stickers mentioning to drain the tank and some random serial number...

My question to all: I thought all air compressor tanks (or pressure vessels for that matter) were required to have that asme plate on them???

Needless to say, I passed...

I've only seen them on the bigger tanks, like 80 gallons. Most of the smaller ones have a tag, but not ASME.

From what I remember (a few years ago had to look up inspection requirements due to having 3 2000G tanks onsite) ASME tags are only required on pressure vessels above a certain size or in a commercial environment.

So I would say this wasnt a commercial grade unit.
