I've noticed quite a few threads on this forum, requesting air compressor timers. The vast majority of responses have been either to never have a leak or to install a master shut-off for the entire shop.
Here's my implementation of a timer. I used a cheap, Chinese, relay from eBay. $6.50. It has a 110v coil.
The timer drives the coil. The coil drives the air compressor. Simple. 10, 20, 30, 60 minutes. That's fine for me but there are also timers that go into multi-hours.
The relay is in the right hand box.
I won't post a wiring diagram because, if it isn't obvious, you probably shouldn't be doing it.
Here is a link to the auction. The picture shows "12V" on the coil but the part I received has "110VAC" on the coil, as in the auction title. This relay will switch 220v but I'm just using 1/2 of it for my little 110v compressor.
