So I got a whip/lead hose to connect out of my air compressor 1/2 ball valve and into my regulator. The whip hose male 1/2 connections are solid and can't be turned. Does that mean I am going to have to loosen my regulator and spin it onto the fittings?

I have attached a photo of another guy who uses the same hose.

If you have a local hydraulic hose shop go get a #8 male with female pipe swivel and you're good to go. If you've got like a Tractor supply around they might have some fittings as well.

Even without a swivel you can still connect it.

Twist the hose in the opposite direction about 3 turns before threading it in. Through trial & error you can find out about how much you need so there is not a twist after it is tight.

A little bit of a pain, but possible none-the-less.
Mine is installed this way, saving me some cash in the process...

You can put a "whip" on a tool as well. Sometimes longer(6-10ft) whips on a tool are ideal because you have less chance of scratching paint without a metal quick couple there and you will gain a little more flexibility at the tool end.

I like them on bigger(3/4&1") impacts because it always seems to split the ******/fitting at the tool if you have a quick coupler there working in tight quarters. With a 6ft whip we almost never break or crack the fittings on the guns.

My local farm store sells swivel fittings that can be used on hoses that don't come with them.

So I got a piece of Goodyear Ultra-Grip and used "push-on" deep barbed fittings. That alone should be enough, but because this basically always at tank pressure/line pressure I added the 2 ear oetikers. All parts available at McMaster & Carr. The inverted loop makes it so I can crawl underneath (important for electrical conduit access) and also causes another barrier for moisture since it has to "climb" against gravity.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. A few good options. The McMaster-Carr is pretty far for me, wish we had one close.

Looking at the hydraulic fitting I think I get how it works. The back nut spins counter so I can wire up my hose. This looks like the easiest bet.

Thanks guys for all the feedback!

The Brown Truck will do all the driving for you. There are literally UPS semis backed up to the dock doors of McM and they load directly to them after taping the boxes. Ground from Cleveland...closest to me...is 1 day ship. (?) :dunno:

I'll second or third stopping by TSC or other similar type place.

Any of the good help there should point you in the right direction. But honestly, once you walk in, look at the pieces, you'll figure it out quickly.

lol matt. I was trying to order from McMaster last night, their web site is horrible. They wouldn't give me a price on shipping so I just went to another web site and got ordered it.

Their website is admittedly not the best, but once you figure it out it isn't so bad. And their selection and customer service is phenomenal so taking a few minutes to figure out their site is worthwhile.
