Air Compressor. Will these lines be ok like this!

Hey Guy's. Just stumbled across the forum. I could spend the rest of my life reading here.

So anyway.

I bought a Speedaire 60 gal air compressor for $50. The guy swore "It runs. It just won't build pressure".

I figured the tank was worth that,,, I hope.

Here's what I found.





So I went to Harbor Freight and bought a Central Pneumatic 5 HP pump and put on there. I had to do some retro-fitting. But nothing too bad.

What has me concerned is the old pump's main tube to fill the tank was a lot smaller than the new pump's. No biggie. I just moved to a different port so I didn't create a restriction going from 3/4" to 1/2".

But in doing so, I now realize I used the port where my regulator was supposed to go. Now instead of my main air supply feeding from a 1/2" port,, it's feeding from a 1/4" port,,, using a 1/4" regulator.

I'm hopefully going to be doing some sand blasting with this set up. Is my 1/4" regulator going to be ok. I do have another big port I could use if need be. But it's about 1-1/2". I'd have to get a bushing to hook it up.

So am I over thinking thing's here. I get told that a lot,,,lol. Will this set up be ok. Thanks.

Looks like you've got another plugged outlet on the right side where you could put a larger connection. Did you put a safety relief valve on it somewhere?

Yes. There is a larger port on the right side. That's the one I mentioned. It is a solid plug right now. I would have to find a bushing, or what ever it's called,,, that is about 1-1/2" with a smaller 3/4" or 1/2" hole in it. If I need to worry about it that is.

Oh ya. The safety relief valve is on the back side of the pressure switch.

Quarter inch? Sounds like it's gonna be too restricted. I'd go for the bushings.
