Im looking at buying a used air compressor for $375.00 or less. It has a kellogg tank and up on the filter it says Quincy. He told me the pump had been replaced. the box on the wall and 20' of conduit go with it. What do you think?

Try for less, but if it runs and is 1Phase, take it home!

It runs. It held air without it dropping. It hasn't been drained in at least 3 yrs. He didn't know much about it, it was his grandfathers and has since passed.

It's a frankencompressor with an ancient motor, but for that price it's probably worth taking a chance on it.

I think it's an early Quincy 310 pump - check the data plate on the side of the crankcase.

Not sure there was a data plate on it. Couldn't read data plate if there was one. The yellow label on the side of the tank had Kellogg on the bottom. Is this a two stage ? I don't know nothing about compressors.

He originally wanted $800, then $500 , and now the lowest he said he woud go is $375. I think I can get him lower. Is it worth the gamble?

It's definitely a two-stage because of the finned intercooler loop between the pump and the flywheel. If there is no data plate, you can go by the pump dimensions (these are for modern pumps but should roughly correlate to older models).

Model L x W x H (in) low pres. bore (in) high pres. bore (in)

310 21x10x21 3.5 2.0
325 22x17x25 4.5 2.5

I think it's a model 310 based upon the pictures, but I also haven't seen a lot of really old 325s to compare it with. Check the L x W dimensions of the crankcase and post back.

Its about about 70 miles from me. I'll check it out when I go to buy it. Did they make the compressors with the Kellogg tank? I'm going to offer $300.00

Make sure you can get the parts for it, call Quincy

Searched google, pull up images, looks like possible a 320, again a call to Quincy. There are a couple prehistoric guys there that know the old models. Considering a good possibility of a rebuild, $375 is top dollar, $300 is a good offer, that considering the tank is useable.
