Hopefully it works better than the old Craftsman 25 gallon oil-less 110 unit I have been using. It constantly runs an pops the breaker a lot too.

Well, I got the compressor now. I just need to get it hooked up and test it. It’s a 3hp 230 volt single phase motor. It has a red, black, green and blue wire. It looks like the blue wire was not used as it’s not been stripped like the other three wires. I wasn’t there when it was disconnected so I can’t be certain. I’ll be having an electrician out to run service for my lift as well as this but any advice is appreciated.

The 4 wire would have been used for 3 phase, whomever hooked it up originally probably just happened to have the 4 wire laying around and used it, that's why only the 2 hots and ground where used.

I'd advise changing the pump oil and air filters, check the drive belt tension. Once you have it running, drain the receiver of condensation, listen for any abnormal noises and check cut-in and cut-out pressures.

Emglo (Jenny) makes good pumps, my only complaint is their method of securing the pump sheave. They use a 'coiled spring' style roll pin, which are a ***** to remove. That coupled with an interference fit between the sheave and crankshaft makes it real PITA removing and reinstalling it. When re-installing, I use an electric Weber barbecue to heat the sheave up to about 250° and with good thick welding gloves on, you can get the roll pin hole lined up fairly quickly.

Thanks. I should be able run it off of my generator then to test it. I just need to add a plug to the end of the wiring. Any idea how to tell what amps the motor requires to run?

A pinch over 2 hp. That's the 9 cfm. Its a third better than what you had which is an improvement but it will last longer and will tolerate starts without trips. Probably be fine on a 20, could use a 30 if you had it or had to. Would run continuous no prob.

Yeah, the craftsman I am using is one of the oil less so it sounds like a pissed off bumble bee when it runs and has been known to kick the breaker several times.

This Emglo was the shop compressor in one of our rental locations at Lowes in Georgia that recently closed. These did not get much use but it's about 15 years or so old.

So the compressor turns over but my 5600 watt generator is kicking the breaker as the compressor tries to get going. From what I am reading it should not be an issue once I have it connected to a dedicated 240v circuit in the garage. Any thoughts or advice on this?

Your generator isn't big enough to handle the starting current. Should perform better on the shop circuit.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. The 240 is already set up with a 30amp breaker so I should be ok. The Electrician will be extending it to where the compressor will be located as well as my Bend Pak lift at the same time he is running service for a backup generator.
