Air compressors, lay on side? Damage?

So I have this friend... No, really my friend, bought a nice 3yr old SnapOn BRA517V compressor off CL. I hate it when I find all the good deals and others buy them. The seller ended up delivering the unit on a trailer. The problem is, it was laying on it's side. It was hauled that way for about 2-3 hours. So my question from him, and my own is: Does the pump get damaged from laying on it's side? Oil going somewhere it shouldn't etc...What can be checked to verify, pull the head off?

I'd stand it upright and let the oil settle back to the sump. Instead of pulling the head, just turn the pump over by hand a few times to verify there will be no hydraulic lock.

I've never heard of a compressor being damaged from being transported like that. That being said, after it was put upright, I'd give it a few minutes then check the oil before using.
