Just bought a used 80 gallon 7 1/2 hp Do i need to put a FRL in line or just something to stop the moisture?

I'd add a water seperator, regulator and a coalesing filter. It will help to have these down line from the compressor to allow the air to cool.

This is NOT an answer to your original question, but bear with me...

I installed this street elbow/******/ball valve/etc. to replace the little finger cutter that came on the compressor. You know the one; you have to get down on your belly like a snake just to get your hand under there far enough to get to it.

I don't have a pic but I also used 1/2" square steel tube to make a handle that's about 40" above the floor so I don't even have to bend over any more to empty the condensation. Now I empty it every few days. Before the ball valve I doubt it got emptied more than a couple of times a year.

One of these days when I get a roundtuit I'm going to get a hose barbed to male garden hose connector and put one of these on the end of that flex hose:
