airco heliweld arc stabilizer

Hi, I have an old Airco heliweld high frequency arc stabilizer model HFAS-1, is it useful anymore for TIG or anything else? Sorry about the title. ... Auto correct

Anyone have any idea? Would it hurt anything to hook it up and try some welding ? What I really don't know if this is designed for a AC or DC supply? Any input would be appreciated, Artie

Yes, only 3 google pages, and was no help. I did see this thread. It was used with a Airco dipstick 160 wire welder, and I have TIG cables and tips that is for it. I don't know if I can weld aluminum with it? I'm guessing that this unit puts a high frequency AC in with a DC welding current? Thanks for any replies , Artie

I realize this is an old post; was wondering if artieb still had the Airco parts? I have a Dipstick 160 I bought new 34 years ago and it's still going. Interested in trying the Tig stuff.
