Air Drill recommendation ?

I'm looking for a new air powered drill. I want a 3/8 chuck drill that has a max speed of about 1600rpm. I will mainly use it to drill out spot welds on autos for panel replacements. The one I have right now is a Mac 3/8 reverisable air drill that works ok.. it is too fast and I have to balance the trigger and pressure to keep the speed down while drilling spot welds. Also another thing I dont like about it is that after drilling multiple spot welds my hand gets sore.. I think its because I'm pushing the drill too hard into the palm of my hand. So, I think a drill with a wider grip would help. I have looked at snap on.. and I think their PDR3A drill is the best drill I can buy for what I need it for. However.. I dont want to pay their price. Has anyone tried their new composite drill ?

I've got the IR7801G. Max speed is around 1700rpm IIRC. The "G" is significant, as other 7801's spin much faster. Keyless chuck. I love it; smooth, relatively quiet, quality feel.

I searched ebay.. I found some snapon PDR3A's listed.. and a seller is selling a few and saying they are new, but they dont look so new in the pictures and they are Black. Kinda odd and I cant figure out why they are black.

I saw one of the PDR3000 on the truck last week it looked nice but I prefer the PDR5A which I didn't see on the website. I'd rather have the 1/2 chuck.

I'm a big fan of rockwell drills. Jiffy drills are good, too. I bought a CP ergonomic drill with 1/4" chuck and am quite impressed. they may have a 3/8" version, not sure.

On the left of my drawer there is my 5/8" rockwell. I used a 4.5" holesaw on it to cut through the bed of the Titan to install the gooseneck hitch. the crappy holesaw lost two teeth, and got stuck in the bed. By the time I could let go, I had done 3 loops around the drill and had half the air hose wrapped around my leg. I have a 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" rockwell, 1/4" rockwell palm drill, rockwell quick change, rockwell 45*, rockwell 90*, and the CP 1/4" drill. Yeah, I like rockwell.

Where did you find the Rockwell stuff? The only Rockwell stuff I rememeber was the old heavy duty electric tools... I have a 600rpm 1/2" drill motor that is an absolute torque monster.
My dad had a few Rockwell tools back in the day. Nice stuff.

Much of mine was from Boeing Surplus sales. There's quite a bit on ebay.

The PDR3000 has the reverse switch on top of the drill.. I like how I am able to reverse with my thumb on my drill.

Wow.. after looking at those Sioux drills.. I want one ! sure are spendy tho.. I actually cant believe how long my Mac drill has lasted me, I put it though so much abuse over the years. I bet one of these high dollar ones sure would last me quite a while.

My rockwell drills are all over 15 years old, and were used daily in production when I got them. They all work fine still. I'll take a used quality air tool over a new **** one any day.
