My air compressor is a huge unit 14 horsepower and has a 1 1/4 pipe outlet. NOW my dryer cooler unit has only 3/4 inlet outlet/ HUH why is there a differance in diameters?? I also have to install a nitrogen generator system for filling the drag bike tires with air air shifter drag car tires and so on. Now alls here i bought lots of 1.25 dia pipe but Im confusedmn 3/4 on the dryer and inlet outlets with 1 1/4 dias on the cvompressor?? Can anyone shed some light ?? Thanx Madman

First question would be the capacity rating of the air dryer and whether it was designed to keep up with the monster compressor.

Next question is whether you really need the capacity of the monster compressor. If you're just going to plumb the rest of the system with 3/4" piping, dropping down to 3/4" before the air dryer won't be the problem.

I planned on plumbing all the main and upright drains with 1.25 pipe. Now with the 3/4 inch dryer it is gettin me worried. Perhaps it doesnt matter but the devilbiss recommended 1.25 dia. Pipe so i bought lie 900 bucks worth. HELP Madman

You didn't answer the question. What is the rated output of your compressor (CFM) and what is the capacity of the dryer (CFM). If the dryer is less than the compressor and you want the full compressor output, you need a new dryer. If the dryer is the same as the compressor it won't hurt to drop down to 3/4" then step back up to 1 1/4" after the dryer, but you could probably have just used 3/4" to start with.

Well the compressor and air dryer units came as a matched set. NOW when i started looking at how to do this system along with the Nitrogen Generator System i was never really given any guidance on or as to where each thing should go. (ex. distance from each other and so on) what a incionvienience no i wont bother to call the salesman if he was decent he would of provided the info from step one) For the cost i was dissapointed Salesmen!!! anyhow im on my own. I wanted to use the same diameter pipe as what came out of the compressor 1.25 black pipe. Then later after buying 900 dollars of black pipe i noticed the air drier cooler has 3/4 inch ports HOLY Hammer Heads. Im getting funked out on this any ideas? I am guessing it may not even matter. Thanx

We can't give you any advice until you tell us the specs of the compressor and the dryer. If you don't know them then say so, although these numbers should be clearly stated in the owners manual for both so I find that unlikely.

Old Car Guy has a dryer with 3/4" inlets and then it goes up to 1" after the dryer. 1"+ gives you more reserve like a bigger tank and better air flow. I would not worry about it. You will have plenty of air flow.
