Air file or what

Working on sheet metal at home the ubiquitous twin piston air file (aka straight line sander) is just too loud for polite society between it's air hog self and the compressor.

In Europe you see almost no air tools in the auto shops, everything is electric.
Is there an electric equiv of the 2-3/4" x 17" air file that we all have a love / hate relationship with?

not as bad as an air ratchet.
with those I wrap a rag around it.
Perhaps they make a muffler.
Ive noticed that cheaper air tools tend to be air hogs and noisier than good ones.
But when work is being done, some are just noisy no matter what you do.
I know of no electric air file.
