Yea.. all those brand are good.. I like my FR350 and porta cable 15ga and no name brand 16 ga then the 18 ga and 22 ga and the HF stapler/pin nailer (after modification)

if you are looking for a framing nailer, first thing I would check is your local code allows full head or clipped head nails... and what you local supply store stocks...

There are battery ones, and compress air ones, but I am not sure if there are electrical corded one for framing nailer. smaller staple and pin nailer I have seen.

My usage are just man cave projects, like I'm going to build a stand for our latest 125 gallon saltwater reef/fish tank. Nothing pretty as it'll be in the living room wall with the fish room behind it. I'll also use 3/8" lag screws in all the joints, but I always start off with nails? I'm 58 yrs. old now, so a powers nail would help a lot !

I'm also going to use finish nails to make s picture frame around the fish tank. Plus, I need to replace some of the wood on my deck. Ya know, just projects around the house.

I wonder how well are Harbor Freight Guns are ? Some of their products are great, but some are junk, like Menards own brands.

So out of the guns I've listed so far, which would you choose ?

There's a guy on Face Book that is selling a brand new nail gun. $230 new, $100 for his. What do you think ?
How should I protect myself on payment if it's not as good as he, says ?

A framing nailer for putting 2x4 lumber together is a specialty tool. It does that and pretty much only that. I have one and used it heavily for a basement remodel I did years ago....and not one time since. For building benches, shelving units, etc., I just use screws...its more reliable, quieter and easier to undo mistakes.

For finish nails, you generally see 3 sizes. If you do much finsh work at all, you will eventually want 16, 18 and 23 gauge.

When I got it on sale, about $10 isle... it was weak for some reason. couldn't sink the staple into the wood. It triggers and fires fine. So opened it up saw the two air passages were blocked by the casting left overs, drilled and ported it a bit now it shoots really strong. The bad thing about that staple gun is that it has no safety..

IMO a Kreg is much more useful for "Man Cave" projects

When I rebuilt my deck I had no problems getting SS 3 1/2 " clipped head framing nails I
just had to wait a week from the local lumber yard.

That debate has been going on for decades, and some people say just add another nail when framing to make up for slightly smaller piece of missing steel.
As dogdog said it may be against code
but for unknow reasons read down below
