Hey guys, Snap on guy has a repo ph3050 on his truck that I am thinking about scooping up. What is your experience with the snap on bits? worth the money or look elsewhere? The gun usually sells for about 200$ and the kit complete with bits is 5xx$ not sure if I should turn this into a kit if he will work some thing out for me or just buy individual bits as I need them from another source. I have herd good things about the quick change chuck so I will scoop on up but not sure on bits yet. School me please.

the air hammer new costs closer to $300. i bought cornwell chisels (Old Forge) and have not had a problem. matco chisels are also made by OF. Both driver's told me they had a warrenty on them IF they could still read their name on it. Cornwell stamped their name, matco just laser etched it.

That air hammer is the friggin bomb! I have it. It hits harder that any other one on the market! I bought the kit, so I have SO bits. I did save one of my matco bits and it has worked and held up. I will be buying a grey pneumatic set soon and trying those. My SO guy said no other brand would hold up, but I think they will. If worse comes to worse I will warranty them out and sell them.

The hardest hitting air hammer is the CP 717 by far, all these smaller .401 shank hammers are not even close. Ajax tool company makes alot of air chisel bits and they have been the best bits overall and the best priced on top of that. Old Forge bits are good also. Ajax can be bought through Cornwell and other vendors as well.

Whatever it is, do not get mac bits. I swear they are made out of clay. SO bits are very good but expensive. Old forge and ajax are the ones to get.

Old Forge:thumbup: However, I think they were acquired by Ken tool/Mayhew last year or so, I'm not sure if their level of quality will continue. Old Forge are great bits at a great price.

Hey guys thanks! The snap on guy sold that hammer before I got to him. Got a new one tho for $280 with a free quick chuck. He was showing me their bits and how they have anti rotation flutes on them to keep them from spinning. I can't seem to find any other brands that have similar bits? anyone ever used that style? I am not sure if I should pony up for them or not. SO bits are just about all 2x what old forge cost.

I can tell you that this info is absolutely false! I bought a set about 4 months ago and the box definitely says "Made in China"
