Hello GJF members , I recently installed a hose reel in my garage and used the $5 husky quick connect with push button release connectors . The connector started acting up on me today but Is okay for now . I originally wanted the prevost style push button connectors but didn't want to pay $20 per connector .

What connectors do you use ?

Was I looking at the wrong prevost is there a cheaper alternative push button prevost that will last me ?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Those push button connector don't warrant their price for me. I can disconnect with one hand on the normal fittings.

Next time your around wally world check out their universal connector. It has like a green-yellow-red stripe around it. It's spring loaded so you don't have to pull back the coupler like most. Just push and go! There only a couple bucks and well worth their price. I used one and was amazed, went back and bought the whole shelf...

original Milton M style couplers, plugs I'm not as fussy on as the generic tend to be OK, saying that most of mine are milton , generic couplers on the other hand tend to be POC .

I did buy a bunch of legacy couplers that I have yet to put into rough service , but they were like 23 cents each .

We have one of those and they are better than most, they still **** compared to the good button ones. When using impacts or air tools they are good but when you have to connect something large its a pain because of the higher force to make the connection. I usually end up just using my knees to make the connection so im not wore out, then when they do get worn enough to be easy they leak as bad as the rest. I wouldnt want one of those in my bay. I prefer my leaky, easy one, which also *****.

The button ones though are worth the money. Easy in and i have fond memories of just hitting that button and shooting my air gun or whatever into my tool cart one handed.

The prevost connectors are really worth the price. you just need one or two anyways so its not that expensive considering you probably won't have to buy it again. The plastic case seems to hold up well and won't scratch paint like a metal one would. they are much easier to use then the normal connector with sliding collar.

I have a Coilhose Pneumatics 150USE connector on my hose reel and love it. Well worth the $12 I paid for it on amazon. It will take male connectors of different types, not just one. Because of how you disconnect or connect an air tool, you won't fight it to put it on, and it won't shoot from the connector when removing it. Sliding the black sleeve back releases the pressure and then you slide back the main connection without fuss.

those look really good and different sizes/all in one is awesome. not shooting off kills it for me though. that shooting off and reloading a tool with the other hand like some kind of nascar tech technique makes my day for some reason

In a well designed home system the only connectors needed are on the business end of the hose. Only need a couple. Buy something you like.

^^^ This if your not using high volume fittings. I have a Prevost, Milton and Coilhose safety coupler (bought off Amazon WD over time) on my reels and over time I will replace with more Coilhose fittings.

These are the ones we use at work and they hold up pretty well. I have the Husky one you're talking about at home and it's been fine so far.

I use these. Most durable I have seen. At work we have 40 acres under roof with nearly all air tools. It's very rare to change a coupling and normally it's damage from being crushed or ran over.

I own the Husky safety coupler for about a year now and it has been working great. Yup it's a Prevost knock-off. I owned the HF version that was pure junk - button stuck and seat all screwed up!!!
